The Lighthouse Inn Offers Refuge for Katrina Victims…
In response to the recent disaster left by Hurricane Katrina, The Lighthouse Inn is offering displaced victims a special rate of $59 per night. Knowing that so many people lost their homes for an undeterminable period of time, the Inn is committed to helping Katrina refugees get back on their feet after this terrible tragedy.
In addition, the Inn has been in contact with the local Rockport Chamber of Commerce in order to help spearhead efforts for finding other opportunities for Katrina refugees such as employment, a means of transportation, meals, counseling and school enrollment.

AROUND TOWN
Fall Fun in Rockport…
As the summer season winds down, don’t miss out on all the fall festivities that are a big part of the Rockport scene.
While you’re in town, take your family out for the 4th Annual Blue Wave Beach 5k run/walk on October 8th. This annual event, held at Rockport Beach Park, is a great chance to bring out the athlete in everyone, while enjoying the sea air!
Ready for a Fish Tale?
Fall in Rockport can only mean one thing… it’s time to go fishing, especially during the Red Bull Run! Red fish, flounder and trout are plentiful and local guides are available for half-day or full-day trips. Or if you would rather just fish on solid ground, take advantage of The Lighthouse Inn’s newest 95-foot long fishing pier. The pier features a lighted fish cleaning station, underwater “green lights” which make for perfect nighttime fishing and a large “T” shaped deck which allows you to cast out directly into the Fulton Harbor boat channel or lay and enjoy the sunshine.
Birders “Whoop” it up in Rockport…
This year more than 250 birds are expected to arrive in Rockport, setting a new record. The Aransas/Wood Buffalo flock is the world’s only wild migrating flock of Whooping Cranes, and as they begin to arrive, we recommend that guests visit the cranes at the Aransas National Wildlife Refuge, home to many of the unique animals that reside in the area. You can also join us at the Inn while the wolfberries and blue crabs are plentiful for the cranes to eat this time of year.
For all you bird watchers don’t miss this opportunity to catch an eyeful.
