Who says you have to fly to reach unforgettable vacation destinations? Sometimes, the best spots are only a car ride away. If youโre planning an escape to The Lighthouse Inn at Aransas Bay and call Texas your home away from home, we recommend turning your drive into a road trip. Whether your journey is an hour or a little bit longer, traveling by car gives you the chance to have a mini-vacation within your vacation. After your trip, thereโs no better way to unwind than in the comfort of our spacious accommodations. To help make your drive to our Rockport hotel as smooth as possible, weโve put together a list of important road trip tips.
Tip 1: Pack an Emergency Kit
Before setting off, make sure you have a well-stocked car emergency kit. This should include things like a first-aid kit, blanket, water and snacks, jumper cables and jump pack, warning devices like road flares or reflectors, and chargers. When packing the car, ensure you put things where you may need to get to them right away. For example, keep the first-aid kit in the glove compartment and your basic set of tools in the back/trunk.
Tip 2: Find Ways to Stay Entertained
The last thing you want to hear on your drive is someone saying theyโre bored. There are several ways to make sure this doesnโt happen. One is taking a look at your route before you leave to see what activities and attractions youโll pass. Making pit stops at places like parks or museums is a great way to let everyone stretch their legs while having fun.
Another classic option is playing games. While you can buy travel games like magnetic tic-tac-toe, there are several other quintessential road trip games that donโt require supplies. Some of these games include the license plate game, Hum the Tune, or Would You Rather.
Tip 3: Make Sure Youโre Prepared for the Ride
There are some things every road trip needs to be successful. In addition to the items listed above, we also recommend you have the following with you on your drive to our hotel in Rockport.
- A blanket and pillow to help you stay comfortable during the drive
- Your favorite sweet and salty snacks
- A playlist filled with all the best songs to sing in the car (bonus tip: download the playlist to your phone in case your signal is spotty)
